How do you design a festive gift box that isn’t just opened, but remembered?

The Brief

Sweet Karam Coffee approached us to design a premium festive gift box that would go beyond seasonal gifting and serve as a brand storytelling experience. The brief was clear: create something culturally rooted, visually striking, and emotionally resonant. This wasn’t just a gift — it was a gesture of heritage. The box was to be gifted to VVIPs, stakeholders, and cultural influencers, making both its design and its story central to the brand's festive visibility.

What We Crafted

We reimagined the traditional gifting experience by designing a vintage trunk-style box, reminiscent of the sturdy metal trunks once used by South Indian grandmothers on their journeys. Our creative anchor was Janaki Paati, the beloved mascot of SKC, known for her warmth, wit, and wisdom. The box was positioned as a special festive delivery from Paati herself, turning every recipient into a cherished grandchild.

Wrapped in nostalgic hues, brass accents, and soft illustration textures, the trunk opens to reveal curated treats from across South India, each one handpicked to represent a region, tradition, or memory. The packaging of each item was designed to echo the same visual language, balancing festive richness with everyday familiarity.

Storytelling Layer

Inside the box, recipients find a diary-style booklet written in Janaki Paati’s signature voice, where she shares the origin stories of snacks, anecdotes from her younger days, and festive traditions across regions. A QR code links to a personal festive audio message from Paati, adding a digital layer to the gifting experience and making it multi-sensory.

Designed to be proudly displayed, photographed, and shared, this gift box became a social moment rooted in love, tradition, and storytelling.
